About Me
I am a 23-year-old, recent college graduate from James Madison University (JMU), where I spent 5 years in my undergraduate studies. I am currently seeking an entry-level position in the field of occupational therapy. I want to improve my current understanding of the practice with hands-on learning opportunities, in the hopes of one day becoming a licensed OT.
While at JMU, I was an active member of the Marching Royal Dukes (MRDs) clarinet section for 4 years and I had the honor of marching with the MRDs in the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Additionally, I was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota-Professional Music Fraternity for 3 years, where I served as member and Co-Chair for the Social Committee. Near the end of my time at JMU, I volunteered for a mobile literacy program known as Gus Bus for nearly 3 semesters. This past March, I participated in an Alternative Spring Break through JMU's Community Service Learning program. I, along with 7 other students, spent our spring break in Kansas City, MO. While there, we volunteered at Sheffield Place: a homeless shelter whose goal is to empower homeless mothers and their children to heal from their trauma and become self-sufficient.
My plan is to attend graduate school and earn my Master’s in Occupational Therapy. My career goal involves working with people who have injuries, disabilities, or some form of illness that prevents them from living their best happy and healthy life. By becoming an OT, I will be serving people of all ages by working with them to achieve their goals and perform daily activities that are required to live comfortably.
